February meeting - snippits

Anyone wanting to receive an email version of the Club newsletter instead of a printed and posted copy should contact Forbes by email ( forbie50@msn.com ) and let him know.

Dave Hocking will distrbute a full list of proposed events that the Club will be attending. As soon as I have them I will update the Calendar page on the site.

A committee meeting is to be held soon to start off the planning of this years show. The date of the meeting is still to be confirmed. Members will be contacted and I shall update the site as soon as the date is set.

There was talk of changing the venue of the monthly meeting to another location which will save the Club a considerable cost, has cheaper beer and a bigger car parking area. Nothing is confirmed as yet, and we would welcome suggestions for an alternative meeting place.

The TCCC Members Featured Car!

Next to feature on the homepage is John Ohldag's VW Golf GTi convertible. A very nice looking car which John says has only had a couple of minor things done to get it all perfect. Thanks John for the pictures.

I am always on the llokout for more pictures of member's cars. Anybody have before, during and after pictures of work being done that they would like published? Email me pics or bring them to a Club meeting. I shall do the rest.

Let's save trees, costs, and a lot of Forbes' time!

At the AGM it was proposed to try and send the monthly newsletter out by email to members, or make it available on the website, so that it can be downloaded, printed and saved by the members.

If you would like to save the Club money, and allow Forbes to get to his bed at a more reasonable hour, and would like to receive future newsletters by email, then send an email to forbie50@msn.com and let him know.

We will, of course, leave it up to individual members. Anyone who wants a printed copy sent to them will continue to receive newsletters in the normal way.

Car for sale

I recently received an email from Dave Gee of Monifieth. Due to a house move he now has nowhere to keep a project and is looking to sell the following car:-

Mid 1960's Volvo 122s, Amazon style. 4 door saloon with an 1800cc engine, twin carbs and a 4 speed manual gearbox. Untaxed. Not running ( would need to be trailered away ) The body is described as solid, but tatty and in need of two front wings. Most original parts are with the car, including some flipper style hubcaps and whitewall tyre covers.

Dave says it would be a shame for it to go to scrap, but it might be more suitable for spares as it will require a fair bit of TLC to restore. Anyone fancy the challenge?

Price roughly £150 ish, but if someone wanted to be quick Dave would be willing to let you come and collect it for a similar value donation to the UNICEF Haiti appeal.

Anyone interested in the car can contact Dave by email on davegeez@hotmail.co.uk or by phoning 07792487010

The first TCCC Featured Car!

First to feature on the homepage is the latest acquisition by new Events Man, Dave Hocking. Picture shows Dave's 1961 Hillman Minx, 303 UXS. I have not seen her in the flesh yet, but what a bonnie looking car. Where do you find them Dave?

Want your car shown here? Please email any images to me at dblack8824@yahoo.co.uk or why not put them on a disc and bring them to a monthly meeting.

Update 8th January 2010:-

Annual General Meeting - or Musical Chairs!

The Club Annual General Meeting took place on Thursday 7th January 2010.

Ladies and Gentlemen - we have a new Chairman. Gordon Smith has stood down as Club Chairman after holding this post for the last seven years. Congratulations and thanks go to Gordon for all that he has done for the Club during this time.

Dave Nicoll had a busy evening. Dave has reliquished his post as Events Co-ordinator after sterling service to the Club over the last 21 years. Again, we must give congratulations and thanks to Dave for his excellent service.

After being off the Committee for about two minutes, Dave Nicoll was proposed as the new Chairman, and was happy to undertake this new role. So goodbye Dave the Events Man and welcome Chairman Dave. Gordon tells us it's not such an onerous task as being Events Co-ordinator.

After being off the Committee for about three minutes, Gordon Smith was proposed for a new post of Show Chairman, in recognition of his skills and experience in helping to put together the Club Shows at Errol. Again, Gordon accepted and was happy to undertake this new role.

At this point, I was sitting minding my own business when I was ambushed and proposed as the new Club Secretary. I have accepted this role on the condition that I will not have to sit on the Chairman's knee to take notes!

Also ambushed at this point was Dave Hocking, who was also sitting minding his own business when he was proposed as the new Events Co-ordinator, to replace Dave Nicoll. Dave has accepted this role, so we look forward to seeing where he's going to take us this year!

We are very fortunate to have such committed Committee members in Mary MacLeod, who is remaining in post as Treasurer, Jim MacLeod who is remaining in post as Points Co- ordinator, and Forbes Milne who does an absolutely fantastic job as Newsletter Editor - and printer, and folder and poster. Forbes is remaining in post meantime, but has made it clear he would like to reduce his workload in this capacity, or hand it over to someone else.

Mick Conway, Mickey Rooney, and John Ohldag were proposed and have agreed to joined the Club Committee. Many thanks to Ron Anderson and Alan Bayne who have stepped down as Committee members.
